Get your camera ready: Here are the best views in Santorini!

Santorini is one of the most famous islands all over the world. It manages to stand out from the thousands of Greek islands thanks to its unique natural beauty which stems from the fact that the island took its current form after a catastrophic volcanic eruption that occurred there during prehistoric times. Santorini has amazing views and vistas to offer to its visitors as well as spectacular sunsets which are the reason why the island is famous all over the world. Needless to say that Santorini is one of the most photographed and filmed places all over the world.

Since most people want to make the most of their time during their vacation but they don’t want to miss the best of what their chosen destination has to offer, a lot of people visiting this beautiful island in the Aegean sea would like to know where they can get the best views in Santorini and the most wonderful vistas. Although it was no easy task, we managed to make a list of them! You can always rent a car cheap and easy and explore more places fast and comfortably.

Oia

When it comes to views and vistas, the village of Oia easily takes the cake. Located on the northernmost spot on the island this scenic village is known for its amazing view of the island’s caldera and its gorgeous sunsets. If you have seen a photo or a video of a Santorini sunset then chances are that it was shot here. The village itself is also one of the most photographed places in the world and this is because it is a traditional village whose architecture, style and “character” has been protected by the Greek government and other organizations since 1967. In fact, it was the first town in Greece to be declared a protected site because of its unique architecture. So, if photography or filming is your hobby, you should definitely visit Oia during your stay in Santorini.

Imerovigli

Located between Oia and the town of Fira – the island’s “capital” – you will find the small village called Imerovigli. The Greeks know it because the beauty of its sunsets has become the subject of many popular songs. For the rest of the world however, this is the best to stay if you want to enjoy the view of the caldera during your stay on the island. Some of the most luxurious hotels on Santorini – many of them with rooms built on the face of the Caldera’s cliffs – can be found here. What makes Imerovigli stand out, is the fact that it is way more “private” than Fira and Oia since it’s not a tourist destination and basically there is nothing but hotels there. If you want an amazing view every morning during you vacation, Imerovigli is the perfect choice.

Pyrgos

Unlike the other villages on this list, Pyrgos is not located near the Caldera. It is a traditional village built on the island’s tallest mountain which is also located right in the middle of Santorini. What makes this village so unique, is the fact that it can offer amazing vistas to its visitors. Located next to the village you will find the church or Prophet Elias which, as per Greek Orthodox tradition, is built on the highest point of the island. This is the perfect place to get a panoramic view of Santorini and experience its rather unique crescent shape. Near Pyrgos you will also find Santo Wines a local winery association that not only features a terrace offering amazing sunset vistas but also offers amazing wines to the guests. Can you think of a better combination than beautiful sunsets and excellent wine?

The best way to visit all those destinations and more is of course by rented car. You will find several local companies on the island and some of them, like Santorini EasyRent, will offer you incredible rates and cars.
